    Special-Purpose Anti-Personnel Rifle Model-4

The Special-Purpose Anti-Personnel Rifle Model-4(otherwise known as SPAP-4) is specifically designed to kill heavy infantry from long distances. It uses the heavy .338 Lapua Magnum round to penetrate body armor, and has the unique ability to have almost no recoil. Taking advantage of a new type of recoil mitigation system, the gun has no upward recoil and a slight rearward recoil motion. This weapon is capable of putting alot of rounds, at far ranges, accurately and quickly. With a 28” barrel and a 10 round magazine, it is accurate at a mile and half with a 7.5” bullet deviation radius. At Ranges Closer than 500 yards, it possesses anti-material capabilities.

Originally made in Canada, the SPAP-4 was made to hit heavy infantry from the U.S. and Russia from long distances. The open forests and mountains called for a special rifle to kill invading troops. Meanwhile yes, the rifle is highly accurate and has virtually no recoil, it is extremely heavy and tends to overheat in normal environments. Because of the snowy climate of Canada, the designers dismissed the idea of an efficient cooling system. Consequently, if the rifle is shot in warm or hot environments, it overheats quickly.

    Anti-Material Rifle-14

    AMR-14 (said as AMR)

The Anti-Material Rifle-14 is a heavy, anti-tank/helicopter rifle. While specifically designed to kill vehicles, it can effectively take out heavily armored infantry. It uses the massive .50 caliber round and is surprisingly accurate. While being a sniper rifle, it has the tendency to flash the shooter when shot, making it impossible to see when and where the round hit. Bolt-Action and with a 10 round magazine, it has astronomical recoil but insane penetration, making it the weapon of choice when killing vehicles.

Originally from the US, the AMR is made to kill tanks and helicopters sent from the newly reformed USSR. By the time the world went to war, shields were made for special forces troops and politicians. Vehicular shields came after the war started. The special AMR bullet completely bypasses shields using jammers equipped on the bullets themselves, making it a weapon capable of taking down spaceships and high-value targets.

    Personal utility rifle 9
The personal utility rifle 9(otherwise know as the purr) is a grunts weapon in the field. The pure has a standard 45 round magazine and fixed iron sights. While not capable of doing a lot of damage, it can fire at a decent rate of 600 rpm. Highly customizable, it can equip almost every attachment ever made. Being a grunts weapon, it is dependable and can get you out of most situations, although, because it is a grunts weapon, it is not well made, tending to jiggle when fired. Because of this, the weapon makes a distinctive purr, hence the nickname.

Made in China, it was created for the average infantryman and was widely used up until energy weapons became prominent. Using the small 5.56x45mm round, it can penetrate most forms of body armor and does massive damage to shields. It was designed to be one thing, versatile.

(BTW, I would like to see this gun as the starting weapon. Thx!)

Do you really think these weapons will exist in *insert year that SOA starts*?
Really, open your mind, that does not mean we will not have powder firearms, but replicating something that exists nowadays into the game makes little sense.
    Also, originality.
You can, however, fill the exact same roles as these real life guns, with your own.

So yeah, I see more and more people simply wanting weapons in the game but it's never something unique.
C'mon, you can do better than this.

this is what im looking for. weapon names. im also thinking about giving a different name to each gun instead of the real life names.

Do we use world war 1/2 weapons nowadays?
Why would we continue to use current weapons within more than a hundred years from now?

i'm just saying that a variety of weapons like the amount in borderlands would be great. particularly when you find other civilizations that are semi-advanced. a civilization like ours could be found and they would use m4's and ak's.

I like the OP's idea because laser weapons seem really unoriginal and overused nowadays in sci-fi anything. Kinetic weapons are relatively easier to make and operate, thus the player could create these weapons earlier in their adventure. That's not to say there shouldn't be laser weapons at all in SoA, I just believe they should come very, very far in the tech tree.

Eh, given the power requirements for lasers, it feels like you'd get more "bang for your buck" using a coilgun to accelerate slugs. Less issues of energy bleed through the atmosphere, and better penetration against armor/hard targets. Lasers and directed energy weapons in general should probably be kept to vehicle scale, or more likely in space to space battles.

Guys, again, for the third time, ofc it's fine to have weapons like that.
The problem is suggesting the exact same weapons that exist nowadays.
Innovate a bit, jeez is that too hard to understand?
We use some similar systems to those developed at first on ww2, that is for sure, but they are not the exact same models.
Just like SOA guns can use similar systems as we have nowadays, but that won't mean we will have the exact same weapon models.
Use a bit of the freedom you are trying to get rid of.

Im more in favor of custom-made guns than a set amount of different guns. The gameplay balance for weapons can be done using physical stats that vary depending on how you design the gun and what materials it is made out of (Mass, muzzle velocity, firerate, caliber, one-second-burst mass, and ammo type translating to recoil, handling, range, and damage.) Also, attachments should be considered as "sidegrades" rather than upgrades because they should have some drawbacks. For example, high magnification sights, if not mounted on a bipod, is very responsive to body movement so you must steady aim for a few seconds when you are sure you can make a clean shot. Suppressors lower recoil, muzzle smoke and reduce sound a little bit but give up some muzzle velocity and makes the gun harder to conceal. Subsonic ammo MASSIVELY reduces sound, but muzzle velocity is so low that the effective range of the gun is really short (around 75 meters.) Expanding on this can make really good and deep gameplay. Now, to make the new player experience enjoyable and not throw everything in the players face at once, the game should have some pre-designed weapons, it should also have an optional tutorial that INTUITIVELY shows how weapon smithing works.

Anyway its late for me, but this might be worthy of a different thread.

Yeah, we've covered things like this in previous threads. Take a look and read them, if you can think of anything to add by all means do.

micro wave guns would be a cool weapon would give burn damage to the player. and it only works on organisms who have water in it.

Let's not appear to condescending when critisising an idea ;)

Agreed, kinetics will always pack a huge punch at low cost. Though, if you can get a strong battery a laser weapon doesn't need to be reloaded. There's other problems with laser weapons like ineffectiveness when firing through dust. I am thinking laser weapons may be more of an anti vehicle weapon, like the ones the US navy are developing. Sorry in advance for linking CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/11/tech/innovation/navy-laser-weapon/

Yup we have talked about customizable weapons. I want as much weapon customizability as possible. Ideally, you will be able to craft your own unique weapons and sell them to players. Whether that is through an attachment system or full on voxel crafting, we will have to see.

i was thinking of having base weapons and then have the player capable of modifing them to a large degree. but not such a large degree that it isnt the weapon at anymore. like a pistol into a shotgun. i want to hear (or see) the critisism because it will help me figure out what other guns (and mods) to add. plus it makes me see if people think a weapon is overpowered.

i updated the list up top now. it has a little more stuff now.
