    Animals in cold regions are often huge. Who's to say it's not covered in thick fur, or a lot of that bulk isn't insulating blubber.

    Because if it was fur then the fact that it has less fur on the joints would be a problem.
    This one looks more like pure muscles than fur, but if it was fur then it would be kinda ok.
    Well, it looks sorta snowish, but then most of the size would be fat, and it woud be nomad.
